In 2020 alone, Harvest Hosts’ members spent $25M with its hosts, allowing some to survive the COVID lockdowns who would not have otherwise. The program resonates exceptionally well for both its hosts and members, connecting RVers to unique campsites and experiences and bringing in additional revenue for local business. Over the next two years, Joel grew the community from 10,000 to over 100,000 members and from 600 to over 1,800 hosts. During the trip, Joel discovered Harvest Hosts, fell in love with the community, and eventually convinced the Greenes to sell him the business. In 2018, Joel Holland, founder and former CEO of Storyblocks, traveled the country in an RV with his wife. Over eight years, the Greenes grew the Harvest Hosts community to about 10,000 members and 600 hosts. Upon returning home, the two founded Harvest Hosts to bring the opportunity to American RVers and businesses alike. The business was originally founded in 2010 by the Greenes, a couple who had recently traveled to Europe and discovered the idea of agritourism, where travelers are invited to stay overnight at local businesses in exchange for a purchase. Harvest Hosts is a consumer subscription business that connects RVers to overnight stays at locations like wineries, breweries, golf courses, and alpaca farms for an annual membership fee. ![]()
